Letter Block Toy Box
Inspired by this Instructables toy box, this is the first project that I've made out of all solid wood. While I took inspiration from the Instructables article, I wanted the quality of the wood to be higher and the joinery to be stronger. For my box I used solid ash wood with laser cut walnut for the letters. It's got little non-marking rubber feet to keep it from sliding around, should it be climbed on by any kids. Also part of the design are lid hinges that hold the lid at any angle, and a half inch gap under the lid, both to prevent any tiny fingers from be squished under the heavy lid. The finish is pure tung oil and a beeswax blend, both of which are child safe.
