Industria Mechanika’s Hornethopter

This model, like so many of my more recent projects, was an exercise in firsts. This was the first all-resin kit that I have attempted. It was also the first full metallic finish I have attempted. It was also the first kit from fantasy/sci-fi kit manufacturer Industria Mechanika that I have built.

This kit was a mixture of resin and photo-etched metal parts. Assembly was fairly straightforward, with most of the work going into painting. As you can see from the images below, I aimed for a metal finish that had been heat treated to change its color.

Finally, I used a chunk of wood that was mean to be turned on a lathe for the base, cut and carved into shape.

Overall I was quite pleased with how it turned out. Paints were Alclad for the metallics, Tamiya for the tinting and Vallejo for the hand-painted cockpit surfaces.
